MT Orkim Harmony hijackers tried to run away, sailed to Natuna Island, Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: Harmony Orkim tanker MT were reported to be taking a sailing eastward toward Indonesia Natuna Islands in an attempt to capture a group of armed hijackers of vessels, to escape.

1 Sea Region Commander of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), Rear Admiral Datuk Azhari Abdul Rashid said the group of hijackers were also asked authorities to provide the boat when they came to the island of Natuna.

"The talks are still ongoing ... when to Natuna Island, they (the hijackers) requesting provided a boat for them to escape, while the navy was escorting the tanker there.

"The vessel is expected to reach the island on Saturday morning and the navy had also informed the Indonesian Maritime authorities on the matter," he said when contacted by Bernama, Thursday night.

Currently, KD Terengganu are continuing negotiations with the pirates so that they surrender.
