Iriz Proton has launched a book 17000


After  a few months on display, a compact car Proton, Iriz received 17,000 pre-launch bookings so far.

Proton Holdings Bhd expects Iriz, 23rd Proton models will drive overall sales and help achieve the sales target of 160,000 units per year for all models.
   
Chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed said Iriz will contribute significantly to Proton's sales and more orders are expected after launch.  

said Iriz, which are in the B segment, will help Proton to dominate the automotive market with a greater competitive price and features innovative technology.
   
"Proton is on the right track with production Iriz meet global standards and global regulation," he told reporters after launching the car at the Proton plant here today.  
   
Prices on road starting from RM42,438 for variants of 1.3 liter to RM58,268 for the 1.6-liter variant with seven color options.
   
Dr Mahathir said that in addition to competitive pricing, car specifications that meet global standards.
   
, he said the car has been tested in extreme weather conditions including snow and hot weather of the desert.




Proton chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Harith Abdullah said Proton invest RM560 million to develop Iriz since it proposed for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in 2009.
   
Considered the best cars produced by Proton, Iriz VVT four-cylinder engine fitted to meet the standards of Euro- 4 to make fuel-efficient and cost-effective.

During the ceremony, Dr Mahathir also launched Proton Customer Delivery Center that will handle the delivery of cars across the country.  
   
Also present were Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Hamim Samuri.
