Cohabiting women were born five children



Melaka: Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) yesterday arrested a 31-year-old woman in the Big Island here on suspicion of cohabitation with a man until the birth of five children.
Enforcement Chief JAIM Rahimin Bani said the woman was arrested while sleeping with all his children, aged between one and 11 years in a tent on the beach of the island at about 10am.
He said JAIM believe the 37-year-old man who was her partner in the island but fled during the inspection.

"Our investigation revealed that the woman did not have a marriage certificate and all the children did not have birth certificates and they previously lived in Masjid Tanah (Alor Gajah) before moving to the island about two months ago," he told reporters here today.

Rahimin says women who hails from Jengka, Pahang was claimed to have been married in Thailand in 2002.
He said the woman also claimed that four children were born in Malacca, while her youngest son was born in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan and the case was being investigated under Section 53 of the Malacca Syariah Offences Enactment 1991 for bersedudukan.

Meanwhile Rahimin said JAIM conduct inspections to curb superstitious nature conducted in the cemetery on the island.

"We ask the public to provide information on relevant activities for further action," he said.
