New York: Two workers rescued washing windows at the World Trade Centre (WTC) new wire binding platform after they lost, causing them to cling on level 69 for nearly two hours.
Rescuers had to make a hole in the floor level of 68 to the rescue workers, who cling to the platform hanging in a corner on the south side of the building, at a height of 240 meters in Tower One complex in Manhattan.
About 100 firefighters and rescue personnel were involved in the rescue operation at the complex as high as 1,776 feet, which is the highest in the United States.
Fire Commissioner of New York, Daniel Nigro said members took almost an hour to get to where two workers were suspended.
"They were silent and did not speak much," said Nigro.
Third rescuers cut a hole in a window on the 68th floor and bring the employee into the building.
Before they were rescued, firefighters drape cables to ensure it does not fall off the platform and communicate with both employees involved via radio.
Ambulances, fire engines and helicopters were sent to the scene and the area around the building in New York closed.
Authorities said workers wear safety gear cause they are not in a dangerous situation.
The building, which was rebuilt on the old site of the World Trade Center was attacked on 11 September 2001, re-opened last week.
