Four homemade bombs were found in Georgetown


NIBONG: People in the Rhino Off Jalan Sungai Besi here uproar when he found a bag containing wrapping paper gift box containing the bomb in the yard of a house occupied by two
women in the neighborhood, on Saturday.

District Police Chief Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS) Supt Wan Ahmad Wan Hassan said a resident here realize there is a paper bag in the yard of the house, near the storage of goods around 11am.

"He told the tenants on the package before they see and find an item that resembles a bomb, they immediately called the police to inform the incident," he told reporters at the scene here.

He said initial investigations revealed that the box contains four homemade bombs reliable and Bomb Disposal Unit (BMU) and K-9 dogs were sent to conduct an investigation.

"The investigation found that there were two female residents aged 50s lived in a wooden house while the store was also used as a place of worship equipment storage.

"Three of the four bombs found was successfully detonated by UPB of Police Headquarters (NHQ) state at about 4:18 pm when a bomb they were brought back to the police for further investigation," he said.

Wan Hassan said investigations are ongoing to determine the motive for the incident including detecting those who put the bomb in the area.

He said it would take evidence from people in the area to assist in the investigation of the case.

"So far we do not know the real motive of the incident, whether due debts or intimidation of residents, further investigation is still ongoing," he said.

He said the case was investigated by the Act Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.

Wan Hassan also sought the cooperation of the public with information regarding the incident to contact any nearby police station for investigation.
