6.0 magnitude earthquake shocked Ranau, Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.9 on the Richter scale rocked the Ranau, Sabah at 7:15 this morning.

According to the Center and the National Tsunami Earthquake tremors felt in most parts of Sabah, including Ranau, Tambun, Outback, Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu and Kota Belud.

The quake's epicenter was located 16 km northwest of Ranau.

So far no aftershocks were reported.

However Meteorological Department is monitoring these developments and will update from time to time.

Operations Operations Center (PGO) Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department Sabah (Rescue), when contacted said he now has applied for assistance JBPM air unit to start operation issued a climber in the mountains around Ranau.
