Salman Khan jail pending appeal

NEW DEHLI: Mumbai High Court suspended the implementation of a five-year prison sentence on Salman Khan Bollywood film actress decided by the Sessions Court on Wednesday in connection the case of hit-and-run in 2002 pending his appeal.

Bernama quoted the report, Judge Abhay Thipsay decided that the merits of the appeal will be heard in July after hearing the submissions of the prosecution and the defense on interim bail to Salman ended today.

Abhay ordered Salman were not present in court today, to turn himself in court and filed a bail of 30,000 rupees (about RM1,800)

The court also allowed an application by the defense to justify Salman traveling abroad.

Salman has been imposed since 2002 and the bail bail for two days while also ended today.

Shortly after the court decision is known, loud cheers sounded near luxury apartment actress by thousands of hardcore fans of the actor who had gathered there since Wednesday night.

On Wednesday, the Sessions Court ruled that the 49-year-old actor guilty of culpable homicide and sentenced him to five years imprisonment and a fine of 25,000 rupees Salman (about RM1,500).
