SHAH ALAM - Perlis Mufti, Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin questioned the reality of a leader who said the former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad not understand the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
She questioned, if Dr Mahathir who is an expert in the field of economic management are not knowledgeable about applicable taxes, who else is more knowledgeable than the leader.
"If Tun M is said to not understand GST, whether Malaysians that almost all of them were more experienced on the economy of Dr Mahathir will more understand about the GST?
"He stated Tun M is known for his intelligence did not understand the GST, whether the maker of the statement smarter than Tun M," he said.
He said this when commenting on the statement by Deputy Finance Minister said Dr Mahathir have yet to fully understand the purpose of GST to advise the government to cancel implementation of the tax.
Yesterday, Dr Mahathir urged GST tax was repealed as existing before the GST is enough.
