Syed Hussein Al-Attas told reporters after launching his latest book titled Che Det sins in Wadi Hussein, Janda Baik, Pahang Bentong today.

BENTONG - veteran political writer Syed Hussein Al-Attas has asked Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to "shut up" and stop making personal attacks against the Prime Minister.

He claimed that the former prime minister's own failure to make any changes to the plight of the Malays although he was given the chance to rule the country for 22 years.

"To know him to shut up, he was content to speak, for 22 years he was Prime Minister, (but) you can not do anything.

"He can not change the Malays, he failed, he was the biggest failure in Malaysian politics, he should be disappointed," he told reporters after launching his latest book titled Che Det sins in Wadi Hussein, Janda Baik, here, today.

He was commenting on attacking Dr Mahathir's leadership Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak RM2.6 billion following the distribution of funds to the account of the Prime Minister's personal and financial scandals 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

In the meantime, Syed Hussien also stressed that Najib should be given the chance to govern the country, especially when the country is facing difficult times, including the ringgit currency crisis.

"He (Dr Mahathir) failed to change the fate of the Malays, he was given the opportunity 22 years, he has not reached 10 years, so use your judgment.

"Why would he insist so, the coat he has another agenda, right?" he asked.

Syed Hussien claimed the attack was believed due to personal agenda including Dr Mahathir wants his son, Mukhriz Mahathir became prime minister after Najib was dropped.

"She has a child, she wanted her child to be Prime Minister, Tun Razak that the child was Prime Minister, Tun Hussien could become Prime Minister, Mukhriz would not be Prime Minister.

"Can not we see it from that perspective?" he asked again.
