Baby drowned in a bucket

GEORGETOWN - Baby one-year-old man was found drowned seven months in a bucket at his home in Jalan Sungai Dua flat, Gelugor here this morning.

In the incident at around 10 am, baby, Jefril Mohd Mohd Jaki said Amnan brought by his mother to the bathroom after defecation.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the victim's mother went out for a moment to take a towel and leave the baby with her daughter who was five years old in the bathroom.

However, according to him, after his mother returned to find her own bathroom terlingkup in the bucket and did not move.

"The mother looked at her son was in a bucket and walk outside.

"He kept lifting his daughter and found her son's face had turned blue," he said when contacted here.

Mior Farid said the victim's mother continued to scream and call her husband who was sleeping in the room before continuing to bring their children to the Penang Hospital.

According to him, the child died on the way to HPP.

"The autopsy was performed on the victim and the doctor confirmed the victims died due to suffocation.

"The police also took statements from the parents concerned and the case would be investigated under Section 31 (1) of the Child Act 2001," he said.

It is learned that the baby's body was buried at the Muslim cemetery in Masjid Jamek Sungai Nibong here tonight.
