Drogheda: Counter Terrorism Division Bukit Aman Police Special Branch told nearly 80 people are believed to be militants IS in Syria so far.

According to Assistant Director of Counter Terrorism, Special Branch Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Bukit Aman, Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, of the expected amount, 63 people have been identified with 54 men, while the rest are women.

He said that all of them are made up of citizens coming from all over the country and participate militant group said.

He said of the total, it also detects seven civil servants from various departments who were in a group of 63 individuals who identified it.

Pert Khan explained, it believed that there were many civil servants who are involved or trying to join the CI.

"The 63 is in Syria that have been identified but the actual number may be 80 people, we have efforts to detect and identify from all over Malaysia," he said.

He said this when met by reporters after a panel of experts in the inaugural forum 'IS reality @ jihad' in conjunction with the Police Day celebration here on Wednesday night.

He said efforts to locate and bring home citizens who become militants there difficult due to the turbulent country.
