Mohammed Mursi
PUTRAJAYA - Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today described the decision of the Egyptian court sentenced to death the deposed president, Mohammed Mursi as unjust action.
According to him, the judgment made by those who oppose Mursi should not have happened.
"In Islam called many times, when you judge, judge with justice. This sentence made by those who oppose him (Mursi), do not be. I think it is wrong, "he told reporters at a press conference after the launch of the book 'Dr Mahathir's Selected Letters to World Leaders volume's two', here, today.
Saturday, Mursi, the Muslim scholars of the world, Yusuf Al-Qaradawi and 105 Muslim Brotherhood supporters sentenced to death for offenses committed in a prison riot in 2011 against President Hosni Mubarak.
Mursi hear the decision in the dock, while most of the other accused were absent, including Yusuf al-Qaradawi now lives in Qatar.
However, the sentence will be carried out only after getting the approval 'of the highest religious authority in the country, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, and the final decision will be announced on the 2nd sentence in June.
In another development, Yusuf Al-Qaradawi condemned the decision and described it as unreasonable and in violation of Islamic law through the video footage uploaded to his Twitter page on Sunday.
