I know who Yassin - IGP

"So we know who he is (Yassin). Let us start with a deeper investigation concerned, - said Chief of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police managed to identify the agents of human smuggling syndicates were behind the trafficking cases in Wang Kelian, Perlis.

Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar informed at the same time, police were still investigating the people known as the 'Yassin' was before suspects are brought to justice.

"For your information, among the Rohingya people, a name common name Yassin tu, tu non-Muslim like Aung, a Muslim ni Yassin.

"So we know who he is (Yassin). Let us start with a deeper investigation concerned, "he said.

Khalid also said that the police will not hesitate to take action against those involved in trafficking and human smuggling.

Rohingya Association of Malaysia chairman, Mohd. Noor Abu Bakar previously claimed, some criminals who are agents for the syndicates to use the name 'Yassin' as a nickname is believed to avoid detection by the authorities.

Khalid was found in the press conference after the Council of Application Ranks Senior Police Officers in the Bukit Aman on Tuesday.

The event also witnessed the handover of duties the Director of Integrity and Compliance Standard (Gypsy) with the appointment of its new director Datuk Mustapa Jamshah previously held Datuk Abdul Ghafar Rajab.

Commenting on the participation of members of local authorities in smuggling and trafficking, Khalid insists there is no compromise to punish the offenders involved.

"I had already mentioned before, we will not compromise, we will not let the members of regulatory bodies involved, we will not let (them). Let us first collect evidence and conduct the investigation ... we will investigate," he said.

Khalid has not ruled out the involvement of state security forces, including police personnel in human smuggling syndicates were responsible for the deaths of refugee immigrants were found in mass graves in Wang Kelian.
